Snowing in May

Remember back in April... all the lovely flowers? That was Texas.

Now we are in the Black Hills of South Dakota... it snowed yesterday, the day after we arrived.

Could this be our winter holiday?

Alas, no picnics today.

Five Days on the Road

5 days on the road and 2 1/2 of them were just getting out of Texas. The other 2 1/2 days covered 3 states.

We hooked up with Hwy 83 in Abilene and began a quiet ride north. Since we love the long view over the plains, it was a coming home for us.

At the Flying J in Abilene, we were told their one truck stop sells 44,000 gallons of fuel in one day. One day! Puts the fuel issue into perspective, doesn't it.

I believe traveling 5 days in a row is a first for us. Just seemed like we couldn't get off the road. Finally in Chappel, NE, we pulled into a small RV park to rest. And rest we did.

We are off again tomorrow- heading toward Scottsbluff. Hope to find a settling-in place. Time to get back to work!

Farewell Texas

Seems like ever so long that we have used the wheels on this rig. The grocery story was right across the street during our stay in Lexington so we had little reason to stow and go. We got rather spoiled with the local-ness of everything.

But now it is time to move north. We'll be heading up Hwy 83.

In recognition of Willie Nelson's 75th birthday (today) and a Texas favorite- we are "On The Road Again!"

Flowering Bushes

Don't know what kind of bush this is, but it sure has pretty flowers. They're about the same color as lilacs, but larger flowers. Found in in Sonny's RV Park, where we're staying.
